Youth Exhibition

Art of the True Self is a youth-driven initiative spearheaded by Brooks Secondary School's Gender and Sexuality Alliance with support from Malaspina Art Society, qathet Art Centre, BC Arts Council and community organizations and individuals. The goal of this art exhibition and festival is to give voice to youth in our community. 

Call for Artists ages 12-29

Submit up to 3 artworks representing your true self.

  • Artwork can be 2D, 3D, Digital or Performance. 

  • Submissions are limited to those aged 12-29, and may be anonymous or use a pseudonym.

  • It is free to submit work.

  • All youth can drop off artwork on Saturday, May 21st from noon to 5pm at the qathet Art Centre.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The Brooks Gender and Sexuality Alliance and the qathet Art Centre are actively seeking donations and sponsorship for this community wide Youth Art Show Art of the True Self to be held at Brooks School and the qathet Art Centre in 2022.

The initiative is to support Youth, especially LGBTQ2S+ Youth and Allies between the ages of 12-29 in expressions about identity in all forms of art. The launch and art drop off started on May 17 to coincide with International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia and will be displayed at Brooks and then move to the qathet Art Centre on June 1st-June 19 for Pride Month.
