Sandra Ritter is best known for her lush coastal landscapes in oils, acrylics and watercolours, although she enjoys exploring less traditional subjects in mixed media as well. In all her work, it is the expressisve qualities of light that draws the viewer in. She has worked on several contracts at the Royal BC Museum, and as the sole artist there on one major exhibit before moving to Powell River.
One of her most unusual projects was the creation of a huge Captain Nemo-like metallic entrance wall at the Shaw Ocean Adventure Centre in Sidney. Her various murals grace the walls of Commonwealth Place, and Fisherman’s Wharf in Victoria.
Sandra finds that painting and writing tend to compliment each other, and in 2018, she took time off to write her memoir. LEAPING INTO THE DARK is about her life in art, dance, theatre and music. She recently finished writing a childrens’ book, which she hopes to have published this year.
You can find more images of her work on her Facebook page.
