Hillside Studio is a carport-turned-collective workspace situated on the edge of Wildwood in Powell River. It showcases the works of creative artists Valerie Markle and Dionne Rachelle, a mother-daughter duo.
Valerie specializes in hand-sculpted porcelain floral arrangements, which are available for purchase at the Tug-Guhm Gallery in Lund. She is also renowned for her whimsical ‘fancy fish’ home décor pieces and faerie doors.
Dionne expresses her creativity through wheel-thrown pottery pieces, and various painting styles and mixed media. The duo draws inspiration from their home gardens, the neighborhood woodlands, and the playful spirit of the emerging artists in residence.
The studio is open for viewing by appointment, and commissioned work can be requested.
During the qathet Studio Tour weekend, visitors are welcome to stay and enjoy the provided snacks and refreshments, and to wander through the property gardens.
