Working with locally sourced, natural materials is Anne’s preference, whether these are yarns, new fabrics or special finds from second hand stores. There are no limits as to what will find its way into and become the finished piece. Up-cycled garments, beads, a tree branch sliced into buttons, pieces of discarded jewelry, silk threads, and scarves will all find a place in Anne’s work.
Anne’s love of exploration, experimentation, and discovery has led to working and sharing techniques with other fibre artists, as well as teaching formal workshops. Blending fibres and colours creates patterns Anne has had in her imagination for as long as she can remember. Her goal is to put warmth and intrigue into the pieces for herself to enjoy as part of the artistic process of creating, and for others to enjoy when they wear, touch and look at Anne’s work. Her excitement and reaction to colour and structure are feelings she aims to share with others.
The inspiration for Anne’s designs come in various ways: something observed in nature, a texture, a colour, a pattern or a fashion trend. The imagination has no limits when the mind is open through the process of design.
