18 | Joyce Furness

Cranberry

After graduating from the Ontario College of Art in 1966, studying under artists like Carl Schaefer, Eric Freifeld and William Roberts. Joyce has always painted but took it up more fully when she retired and moved to Powell River in 2006. Coming from Ontario and moving to the West Coast, she became captivated by the beauty of the Strait, mountains and forests with the shifting light, shapes and shadows and concentrated primarily on the seascapes and landscape of the area. Her work can be seen in the art cooperative, Artique, Paperworks gift shop, the Tug-Guhm Gallery in Lund and in the lobby of the Peak office. She continues to work and learn with the occasional foray into the exploration of still life and abstract art. Her cards, prints and magnets are also on offer.
